Airtec Double Insulation

Airtec double insulation is an easy-to-install DIY insulation product suitable for roofs, walls and floors. Featuring radiant heat reflecting technology to reduce conduction as well as an effective barrier against moisture intrusion from air currents or vapors escaping, this solution helps reflect radiant heat back out to reflect off into space more effectively while acting as an insulating layer against condensation build-up and air currents.

YBS Airtec-Double insulation features durable aluminium on both sides to withstand wear-and-tear, with a built-in vapour control layer to reduce condensation. For best results, staple it to joists and rafters before overlaid with counter battens and fully sealed using ThermaSeal foil joining tape.

Easy to install

EcoAirtec double is a flexible bubble insulation membrane made of true aluminium foil on both sides for simple installation. With excellent thermal properties such as keeping heat inside during winter and reflecting excess summer heat back outside during the daytime resulting in more comfortable ambient temperatures all year round. Ideal for roofs, walls, floors conservatories garden buildings sheds and Motorhomes when installed correctly it complies with all current building regulations when properly installed.

Roll EcoAirtec out and cut it to size using a cutting knife or multifoil scissors; to achieve optimal performance it is important that a 25mm cavity remains either side of the insulation for best performance. Once cut, staple the insulation at 300mm intervals on joists or rafters ensuring it pulls taut before taping it all off with 75mm ThermaSeal foil joining tape as this acts as both vapour control and helps reduce condensation.

DIY enthusiasts seeking an effortless project experience should look into using vinyl floor edging, as its installation is fast and effortless. Simply roll between roof or floor joints, into walls, or under floors; even pitch roofs with vapour barriers can benefit from its use!

High R-value

The R-value of insulation is an assigned number determined by a testing procedure designed to measure its resistance to heat transfer conductively through materials or building assemblies. The higher its R-value is, the more resistant to conductive heat flow the material or assembly is. Although double bubble foil insulation boasts a relatively high R-value compared to foam board insulation options, its effectiveness differs considerably in many regards.

Manufacturers frequently claim their double bubble wrap insulation has an R-value that meets industry standards; however, such claims can often be misleading. R-value numbers reflect ideal conditions and usually measure downward heat flow. Furthermore, their R-value may be reduced due to factors like wind gusts, humidity or thermal bridges reducing efficiency.

Foam board insulation boasts low emissivity and is excellent at reflecting radiant heat; double bubble foil, which features superior conductive heat blocking properties, is more adept at blocking radiant heat transference and has multiple applications across roofs, walls, floors conservatories garden buildings sheds and motorhomes.

Durability

Double bubble foil insulation is an excellent temporary insulation option, thanks to its thinness, flexibility and easy installation process. Not only does it offer thermal benefits as well as maintaining an R-value that’s high, it can also serve as an airtight vapour control layer to limit condensation build-up.

Foil faced outer layers create low emissivity air spaces within their bubble structures, increasing overall thermal capabilities of this solution and making it suitable for roofs, walls, floors, and sheds. This feature makes the product suitable for a range of applications ranging from roofs and walls to floors and sheds.

Aluminium coated with corrosion-resistant coating provides a fully waterproof insulation system, ideal for improving U values in traditional cavity wall construction, meeting and exceeding current Building Regulations for dry lining insulation projects, or for installing horizontal counter battens at blockwork-mounted horizontal counter battens; once in place it should be securely stapled to joists/rafters before being sealed using 75mm ThermaSeal Foil Joining Tape to seal.

Vapour control

Customers have found double bubble reflective foil insulation rolls to be versatile, easy-to-install, and effective at insulating their homes and buildings. They offer high thermal R-values with protection against conduction, convection and radiation as well as moisture, air currents and vapors.

YBS airtec double insulation membrane’s core bubble profile enables it to retain heat during winter and reflect unwanted heat away in summer, creating an ambient temperature year round. It is the ideal choice for roofs, walls, floors conservatories sheds and garden buildings alike.

EcoAirtec Double insulation should be fastened directly to joists or rafters at 300mm centres with 50mm overlap on all horizontal and vertical areas, secured using ThermaSeal Foil Joining Tape 75mm taped over overlaps for optimal performance and to reduce condensation risk. For optimal results, ensure all overlaps are fully taped over and sealed using ThermaSeal Foil Joining Tape 75mm as soon as they overlaps have been completely sealed to prevent moisture wicking through and reduce risk of condensation.
