The Ecotherm Eco-Versal is a 5-in-1 universal insulation system for floors, pitched roofs, dormer cheeks and ceilings. It has lower R-values than Rockwool, is cheaper than glass wool and is fire-resistant up to Class O in exposed concrete soffits.
Ecotherm Eco-Versal is a 5 in 1 universal solution for insulating walls, floors, pitched roofs, dormer cheeks and ceilings
Ecotherm Eco-Versal is insulated with a polyisocyanurate (PIR) core and foil-faced aluminium composite facings. It is certified to meet the BRE Global Green Guide generic specification and is Energy Savings Trust listed. It has a low emissivity and is resistant to alkaloids, dilute acids, petrol and mineral oil. It does not provide a food source to vermin and is suitable for use in a variety of building types and sizes.
Ecotherm Eco-Versal is suited to both flat and pitched roofs, as well as floors and walls. It can be easily installed to provide thermal insulation and can be used to enclose dormer and flat roofs. It has a lifetime guarantee and is suitable for use under BS476-7: 1997 Class 1 rating. It is suitable for use in both domestic and commercial buildings.
Insulation should be applied to all floors above unconditioned areas, including garages and vented crawl spaces. It should also be applied over foundation walls and joists. Insulate joists and band joists if necessary. And don’t forget to add insulation to walls that are above the floor joists and in unfinished attics.
The main advantage of interior insulation is that it conserves interior space, but is much less costly than exterior insulation. But its disadvantages include that it reduces usable interior space. Additionally, it reduces the amount of usable interior space, and it does not protect the damp-proof coating. Poor perimeter drainage also means interior insulation can get saturated. Adequate performance of insulation depends on vapor diffusion retarders and superior air-sealing details.
It is less effective than glass wool
There are several advantages to using glasswool floor insulation instead of polyester. For one, glasswool is made from recycled materials, such as glass bottles and sand. These materials are crushed or melted, and then spun into long fibres that are bonded together. Another advantage of using glasswool is its higher compression factor. This means that you can fit more insulation in your car trunk compared to polyester. This can save you the cost of shipping and a trip to a warehouse.
Glass wool can also be used as a blanket. It’s lightweight and easy to work with. It also has excellent thermal and acoustic qualities. It’s also water-resistant, and it acts as cavity wall insulation. The insulating qualities of glass wool make it an excellent choice for lofts and floors. Because 99% of its weight is air, glass wool is often used as a roof insulation material. However, rock wool is a more environmentally-friendly option, and has superior acoustic properties.
If you have a house that was built before the 1920s, chances are you have solid walls, meaning that there are no cavities. These walls are typically made of brick or stone. They are not as effective as cavity walls, but they do provide some level of insulation. In addition, solid walls are often less expensive than glass wool.
It is cheaper than Rockwool
Ecotherm floor insulation is cheaper than Rockwooll and more effective for the floor of new or existing homes. Ecotherm uses a more natural, cost-effective material that is also better for the environment. The material is made from recycled slag (a by-product of steel and copper manufacturing).
Fiberglass is a more environmentally friendly choice, as it is biodegradable. Moreover, it may help reduce utility bills. It is easy to install and comes in batts, rolls and blankets for easy installation. Fiberglass is available in spray form or can be blown in tight corners.
Ecotherm floor insulation is easier to install and has added benefits, including fire resistance. This premium floor insulation lasts the lifetime of a building. Using a local Acoustic Calculator to measure your floor’s width will help you estimate how much you need. You can also order extra insulation if necessary to cover any gaps between joists.
Ecotherm floor insulation is cheaper than Rockwooll but more expensive than spray foam. It is easier to install, but you may need to replace it over time. Rockwool is cheaper but less efficient, and it doesn’t create an air barrier. Using a professional installer will help ensure that the product lasts a long time.
Ecotherm’s Eco-Versal 75mm product has a fibre free PIR insulation core and a high-quality aluminium foil facing. It is covered by a BBA Agreement Certificate No 14/5157. Its compressive strength is typically greater than 140 kPa at 10% compression. The material is also fire-resistant.
It has a Class O fire performance for semi-exposed concrete soffits
Ecotherm floor insulation has an excellent Class O fire performance and can be used on semi-exposed soffits. This is a good choice for new builds, extension work and upgrading old soffits. There are several different types to choose from. For example, Ecotherm’s Pro-Soffit provides outstanding thermal performance and the Pro-Soffit Plus has a Class O fire rating, making it an ideal choice for these types of soffit.
Ecotherm’s Soffit Board Insulation is a unique, fibre-free rigid thermoset phenolic core, which makes it a superior option for insulating structural ceilings. The product is available in a variety of thicknesses, including 6mm, and has Class O fire performance for semi-exposed soffits.
Ecotherm also offers rigid floor insulation boards. The Eco-UFH is a great option for underfloor heating because of its tough membrane facing and gridlines to guide pipes. It has excellent clip retention. The Eco-Versal is another choice for semi-exposed concrete soffits and has a Class O fire performance.
Ecotherm also offers a fire-resistance product called EcoProtect. This insulation board is made from a fibre-free rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation core with a pure aluminium foil facing. It has a Class O fire performance and is suitable for new builds as well as refurbishment projects. It also provides a versatile solution for pitched roof insulation, as it can be used on a variety of surfaces, including timber frame systems.
