Insulation Cover

Insulation covers provide protection from mechanical damage while simultaneously controlling temperature regulation. They come in various shapes and sizes to meet any need – be it for pipes, valves, engines or exhaust systems.

Removable insulation blankets are easy to inspect and can be reused again, as they conform perfectly to whatever object needs covering, eliminating air gaps and increasing thermal efficiency.

Flat and Gusseted

Insulation covers are much simpler to use and install than insulation tape, sleeves or more permanent solutions, such as spray foam. They can also be easily taken apart for inspections, cleaning and maintenance purposes.

Conventional fixed insulation materials like rockwool, perlite and calcium silicate often perform well when installed correctly initially; however, their performance over time may lead to costly maintenance expenses and Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI).

Flat stapled covers usually involve using a large, forcibly wrapped pad which is then wrapped around items needing insulation. While this method may be cost-effective for simple systems, its design allows external conditions into the system via air gaps.

An ideal solution is a custom-shaped and gusseted cover, connected to both jacket and liner by insulating gussets, that enables insulation to conform exactly to the shape of any system or object needing insulation, further increasing energy efficiency while decreasing air gaps and air gaps.

Sewn or Stapled

Removable insulation covers (also referred to as blankets, pillows, mats or wraps) provide fully enclosed systems that can easily be unrolled for inspections or to stop fire from spreading; their installation process is much quicker and simpler compared with sleeves, insulation tape or more permanent solutions such as sleeves.

Insulation covers can be tailored specifically for each system or object they insulate, making them snug fitting to reduce air gaps that cause energy loss and hinder performance. Furthermore, custom shaped gussets may also be designed to accommodate interferences or penetrations and provide more uniform thickness across the cover’s surface area.

Insulation materials may be secured using different fasteners, including zippers. After they have been sewn together, they should be tagged and stitched for final stitching to protect their insulation properties and finish the manufacturing process successfully. Tagging and stitching may take place either at the beginning or end of this step in production.

Custom-Fit

Insulated covers come in custom sizes designed to protect machines or equipment of various dimensions. Furthermore, they may come equipped with various tie-down and grommet options to meet specific application needs.

In one embodiment, a pre-cut fibrous insulation blanket with permeable sheet attached to one major surface and facing sheet featuring double Z-pleat tabs formed by double Z pleaats has an air permeable sheet bonded on. Furthermore, separable connector strips filled with bonding agent to strengthen or increase integrity of facing sheet allows it to still function as a vapor barrier despite perforations on face sheet.

Pre-cut fibrous insulation blankets can also be formed at widths different than the standard cavity width in order to minimize or even avoid having to trim at installation, thus cutting material costs significantly.

Fabrication

No matter the name, blankets, covers, pads or wraps are encapsulated insulation systems designed to prevent corrosion under insulation (CUI). They offer advantages over fixed type industrial insulation like rockwool, perlite or calcium silicate that may become damaged when accessing systems for maintenance or repairs.

Insulation of engine & exhaust systems and heat processing equipment helps stop energy from dissipating into its surroundings and harming ancillary components, saving both energy and money by keeping heat where it belongs and lowering operational costs. Insulation also saves money by keeping heat contained, cutting operational expenses.

GLT Products provides several accessories to make this process simpler, from lacing anchors and high temperature sewing threads and washers. Personnel can quickly install and remove removable insulation blankets in order to perform maintenance checks without disrupting production, such as regular inspections. When removed from one pipe or section of piping it can be reused on another section where periodic access may be needed for maintenance and repairs of equipment. GLT Products has many accessories that make the process simpler including lacing anchors as well as high temperature sewing threads and washers – make GLT Products your one stop shop for everything insulation!
