Kingspan Insulation – What Are the Different Types of Kingspan Insulation?

Kingspan insulation is a highly sought-after brand, known for saving consumers money on energy bills while being more costly than alternatives like mineral wool insulation.

Kingspan insulation may or may not be right for your project depending on factors like cost and preference; however, its quality products could make Kingspan the right choice.

Kooltherm

Kooltherm provides premium performance insulation products for walls, floors and roofs. Their fibre-free thermoset phenolic core resists both moisture ingress as well as water vapor ingress for improved comfort.

Kingspan Kooltherm boasts one of the lowest thermal conductivity values available, enabling you to reduce insulation thickness for optimal thermal performance and achieve European Reaction to Fire (BL,s1,d0) rating as well as FM Approval Standard Class 4929 certification.

Kingspan Kooltherm insulation stands out as having superior resistance to burning and spread of flame when compared with rigid polyurethane (PUR) or rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) materials, failing neither melting, dripping or producing flaming droplets; passing the UL 181 Burning Test without producing smoke; which is rare for thermoplastic materials.

OPTIM-R

Kingspan’s OPTIM-R is their next-generation insulation solution, featuring rigid vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) with microporous cores that have been evacuated, encased, and sealed within a thin gas-tight envelope for exceptional R-values of 1″ thickness and up to R-57 at 2″ thickness.

Optim-R offers five times higher thermal performance than commonly used insulation materials, making it the perfect solution for refurbishment and new construction projects alike. Plus, with a bespoke design service available to make sure it meets all of your project specifications while minimising waste!

OPTIM-R is resistant to water vapour seepage and allows no seepage through its roofing membrane, making it suitable for flat roofs or balconies that need extra protection.

Therma

Kingspan Therma insulation boards deliver outstanding thermal performance for flat roofs and ductwork systems. The product portfolio offers insulation solutions tailored specifically for use within these applications.

The Therma range’s insulation core features rigid fibre-free PIR insulation, second only to phenolic in terms of thermal performance. With a thermal conductivity rating of only 0.22 W/m*K it offers significant savings when it comes to energy bills.

Therma’s FM approval allows it to be used on Class 1 steel roof assemblies for new builds and renovations, making installation simpler than ever. Being fibre-free makes Therma safer to handle as it makes for quick installation times.

Styrozone

Kingspan Styrozone is a fibre-free rigid extruded polystyrene insulation board with high compressive strength designed for use in basements, car park decks and heavy-duty commercial and cold store flooring applications.

Its closed cell structure helps it resist both ground water absorption and water vapour passage, as well as air infiltration and freeze-thaw cycling, making it suitable for new build or refurbishment projects.

GreenGuard (formerly Kingspan Styrozone) is an exceptional extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation material formulated according to physical principles and ideal for specialist applications. Easy and safe to handle, with minimal moisture penetration through an exclusive blowing agent with zero Ozone Depletion Potential and low Global Warming Potential values, GreenGuard was originally known by its former name of Kingspan Styrozone.

GreenGuard

Kingspan GreenGuard type IV XPS insulation board was specifically created to meet your multiple application needs, featuring closed-cell extruded polystyrene (XPS) material with minimum compressive strength of 25 PSI, providing water resistance and providing high R-value per inch of thickness.

This flooring solution is perfect for inverted roofs, basements, car park decks and heavy-duty commercial, industrial, and cold store flooring applications – CFC/HFC free and with zero Ozone Depletion Potential potential!

GreenGuard certification gives you peace of mind, knowing that products have passed rigorous chemical emission testing to ensure low emissions and support healthy indoor air quality.
