What Is Moisture Panel Plasterboard?

Moisture panel plasterboard (commonly referred to as green gypsum board) is an ideal option for damp environments as its core additives help it resist moisture damage while keeping mould and mildew at bay.

Skimming may be possible; however, we strongly advise using a bonding agent as it offers cost-effective options for ceilings, linings and partitions.

Water Resistant

Moisture resistant plasterboard contains additives in its core that repel moisture, making it the ideal solution for areas prone to dampness and humidity in the home. However, unlike waterproof plasterboard, which will still be damaged by water seepage or condensation problems, moisture resistant boards must still be used alongside other moisture reducing products to effectively control humidity levels in their environment.

Wet area plasterboards are manufactured using noncombustible gypsum cores that feature natural face paper on one side and liner paper on the other, along with wax-based emulsion which renders their core water-resistant, making these sheets suitable for regular setting type jointing compounds.

Gyprock Aquachek wet area linings are designed specifically for use in wet environments such as bathrooms, laundries and ensuites – as well as external ceilings like soffits – where moisture-retaining surfaces like wall claddings such as Gyprock Aquachek might otherwise become damaged from constant contact with moisture. Their green plasterboard construction helps protect walls from damage while helping avoid mould and mildew growth on exterior walls.

Moisture Resistant

Moisture resistant plasterboard contains additives in its core which repel rather than absorb moisture, keeping its strength even under humid conditions and offering you endless style options for decorating either at home or business. It can even be tiled over for easy tileing/painting options!

Moisture resistant plasterboard doesn’t address all the causes of damp walls, such as penetrating damp or condensation issues; but it remains an effective and cost-efficient product which may be suitable in certain instances.

At Insulation Wholesale, we carry 12.5mm GYPFOR green moisture resistant plasterboard. These boards feature a green face with grey paper on the reverse, are lightweight for easier handling and installation and come equipped with tapered edges on long sides and square edges on short sides – designed to meet H1 water absorption standards.

Fire Resistant

Fire resistant moisture panel plasterboard can help safeguard walls against fire damage. Available in various thicknesses, and with or without insulation depending on your project needs, it provides effective fire-protection solutions for interior walls.

Insulated plasterboard can help make your space more energy efficient by keeping warm air from escaping and cold air from coming in, leading to energy efficiency for you and your home or business. Furthermore, insulation also minimises heat transmission that could otherwise damage accessories in the room.

Gyprock Fyrchek MR provides the ideal combination of fire and moisture resistance. Constructed using fireproof and acoustic grade boards with added moisture protection features, this material makes an excellent lining solution for wet area rooms, soffits and external eaves that require superior fire and moisture protection. Recognizable by its blue face paper with additives that repel water while remaining non-corrodible during fire events.

Sound Resistant

Moisture-resistant plasterboard was specially created for use in damp environments such as bathrooms, kitchens and wet rooms. Its core contains additives which repel rather than absorb moisture – which has made it the industry standard in these settings.

Not only can its damp proofing capabilities provide sound insulation, it is also highly beneficial in bedrooms where it helps cut down external noise as well as your own snoring!

Acoustic plasterboard is a thicker alternative to regular plasterboard. Usually ivory on one face and brown on the other, you have the choice whether or not you plaster first over either color side.

Installed using either traditional dot and dab methods or mechanically using clout nails, timber battens, or metal stud partition systems; additionally it may also be mounted directly to ceilings with timber joist and rafter or metal MF ceiling systems – and can then be plastered or painted upon.
